The FDIC Experience Starts: Sunday, April 17th, Indianapolis Airport, Part 1: Snyder Fire Department crew appears, grab their luggage and head to town. They check into their Hotel, and head to the Expo for their credentials. The Commissioner checks in with Audio/Visual testing. Day 2, early morning, firefighters arrive at the conference center, most take to the floor. The busses arrive, firefighters board with enthusiasm. Lieutenant Bastedo, a 1st timer at FDIC is on his way to HOTS, they arrive at an abandoned mall. Convention Center, Commissioner Merrill attends a class, "you can never get enough knowledge"

Harrisburg Bureau of Fire

The Harrisburg Professional Firefighters, known as Capital City Paid Firefighter’s Association IAFF Local 428 represents the 71 career firefighters of the City of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The City of Harrisburg is the Capital City of Pennsylvania. The 2010 census reveals a population of 49,528. This ranks Harrisburg as the 9th largest city in the state. Additionally, the weekday workforce increases the population to approximately 150,000.

Millburn Township Fire Department

Founded in 1876, the Millburn Fire Department enjoys a proud legacy of service spanning 140 years. The department personnel include 47 career and 7 volunteer members that operate out of two fire stations. A minimum on-duty staff of seven personnel is supported by on-call career and volunteer firefighters. Responding to an average of 2,000 calls per year, each firefighter is trained and certified in Firefighter I and II, First Responder Medical Care, CPR, Incident Command Levels 100 and 200, hazardous materials, awareness and operational levels, and mass decontamination. More than half of the fire department members are N.J. Certified Emergency Medical Technicians. The Millburn Fire Department operates four engines, one ladder truck, a heavy rescue unit, a Polaris Ranger capable of off road maneuvering and carrying one patient with support staff. One command vehicle and several support staff vehicles. In a recent partnership with the Newark Fire Department, Millburn houses and responds with a “U.A.S.I. Support Unit” which carries lumber and supplies to building collapse calls in a five county response area through which Millburn receives specialized training from the N.J. Department of Homeland Security.

Snyder Fire Department

The Snyder Fire Department is a 100% volunteer fire department that provides fire, rescue and emergency medical service to approximately 20,000 residents in a six square mile area within the Town of Amherst, New York. The department responds to in excess of 1000 emergency incidents each year and is staffed by over 75 volunteer firefighters. Operations are carried out from one central station that houses all the apparatus and administrative offices.
